# Install Fabrika yourself, with Claude Code

Fabrika is open source, so you don't have to take our word for any of it. Paste one prompt into Claude Code and it installs the platform into your own Zerops or Cloudflare account, from the public code, at the latest stable release.

You don't need to be a developer. Claude explains each step and each choice, and waits for your OK before it changes anything in your account.

### What you need

 - Claude Code, or another agent that can run commands on your computer
- A Zerops account with credit topped up once
- A Cloudflare account with a domain for the platform's addresses
- A GitHub account that can create a repository for your company

## 2 Paste it into Claude Code

*Paste into Claude Code · Zerops*

```
Install Contember Fabrika into my Zerops account.
Find the latest stable release of Fabrika (the `latest` version of @fabrika/cli on npm) and tell me which version it is. Clone https://github.com/contember/fabrika-platform at that version's tag (v plus the version number), run `bun install --frozen-lockfile` in it, then print the installation guide with `bun packages/cli/src/index.ts platform guide --provider=zerops` and follow it step by step.
Before each step that changes my Zerops or GitHub account, tell me what it will do and wait for my OK. Show me the decisions the guide leaves to me, with the prices, and let me choose.
```

Claude installs the latest stable release and tells you which one. The instructions ship with that release, so they always match what gets installed. You can read them first: [installation guide on GitHub →](https://github.com/contember/fabrika-platform/blob/main/packages/provider-zerops/src/installation/guide.md)

*Paste into Claude Code · Cloudflare*

```
Install Contember Fabrika into my Cloudflare account.
Find the latest stable release of Fabrika (the `latest` version of @fabrika/cli on npm) and tell me which version it is. Clone https://github.com/contember/fabrika-platform at that version's tag (v plus the version number), run `bun install --frozen-lockfile` in it, then read the installation instructions with `bun packages/cli/src/index.ts platform --provider=cloudflare --help` and walk me through `platform init`.
Ask me for every value it needs (the three addresses on my domain, how people sign in, the e-mail provider) and explain each choice. Before anything that changes my Cloudflare or GitHub account, show me the command and wait for my OK.
```

## What Claude goes through with you

The steps come from the installation instructions of the release being installed. This is roughly how it goes.

### On Zerops

 1. 1
The platform

A project in your Zerops account with sign-in, the console, error tracking and the gate that stands in front of every app.
1. 2
The first administrator

Claude hands you an enrollment link. You open it within the hour, set a password and sign in to the console, where you manage people from then on.
1. 3
A repository for the installation

On your GitHub. It records which release the installation runs and deploys platform updates.
1. 4
A key for the command line

Valid for at most 30 days, so Claude or your developer can register and deploy apps without your personal login.
1. 5
The first app

Our example app or your own, deployed into its own namespace behind the gate. Opening it takes you to the sign-in first.
     What to keep safe Every key the installation generates is written to one file on your computer. That file is the only readable copy, so back it up where you keep passwords. Upgrades Later, one command moves the installation to a newer release.
### On Cloudflare

 1. 1
The values

Three addresses on your domain (the console, sign-in and error reporting), how people sign in, and who sends the e-mail.
1. 2
A repository for the installation

On your GitHub, with the credentials kept in its environment. It records which release the installation runs.
1. 3
The platform

A workflow in that repository builds the platform and deploys it into your Cloudflare account: sign-in, error tracking, the console and the runner that deploys apps.
     What to keep safe The credentials stay in the installer's file on your computer and in the repository's environment on GitHub. Back the file up where you keep passwords. Upgrades Later, you change the release in that repository and push it.
## Safe in production, with us

The platform holds the rules from the first minute. What it can't do on its own is look at each change with a person's eyes, keep itself up to date and pick up the phone when something breaks. That's what we add:

 - ✓ We review every change before it goes live.
- ✓ We keep the platform patched and upgraded.
- ✓ We watch errors and outages, and step in when something breaks.

## What people ask about installing it themselves

### Is it free?
 +
The platform is open source under the MIT licence, so installing it costs nothing. You pay Zerops or Cloudflare for what runs in your account; on Zerops, Claude shows you the prices before you choose a size. Setting it up with us, and running it with change review, is paid: see [pricing](/pricing).

### Do I need to be a developer?
 +
No. You need to be comfortable letting an agent run commands on your computer, and to have the accounts at hand. Claude explains each step in plain words and asks before it changes anything in your account.

### Zerops or Cloudflare?
 +
Zerops, if you want to run company apps on it: it has the full app runtime in the stable release. On Cloudflare the platform runs on Workers, and apps get a database, jobs and files from release 0.9, now in preview. The full comparison is in [Clouds and stack](/platform#clouds).

### Which version gets installed?
 +
The latest stable release, the `latest` version of `@fabrika/cli` on npm. Claude tells you which one before it starts. The installation instructions ship with that release, so they always match what gets installed.

### What if it gets stuck?
 +
The commands say what's missing and how to fix it, and Claude reads that. If you'd rather not finish it yourselves, [book a call](https://cal.com/contember/demo) with our engineer.

## Go through it with our engineer.

Half an hour with the person who builds the platform. Bring your identity provider, your cloud, your security questionnaire or a repository.
